Amid protest against airing the one-hour special, All My Babies’ Mamas, Oxygen decided to cancel the show.

The controversial reality program would have followed Atlanta rap artist Shawty Lo as he interacted with his 11 children from 10 different women. It was scheduled to air in the spring.

Due in large part to ColorOfChange.org collecting 40, 000 signatures and having several conversations with Oxygen Media executives helped shelved the reality special.

Oxygen informed the organization in an email that the show has been cancelled. “We thank Oxygen Media for taking this important step. The tremendous response from over 40,000 ColorOfChange.org members, coupled with national outrage from Black folks, sent a clear message that exploitative television shows like All My Babies’ Mamas are unacceptable.” ColorOfChange.org said in a press release.

“The airing of a reality show like All My Babies’ Mamas would have reinforced many of the stereotypes about Black men and women that have power to influence public policy,” the group went onto write. “Research shows that exploiting persistent racial stereotypes that marginalize Black Americans have real world consequences.”

It also must be said that The Parents Television Council voiced their concerns to not air All My Babies’ Mamas, urging its members to contact Oxygen about the show.

REALITY CHECK: RHOA ~ KENYA GETS A RUDE AWAKENING

And we’re off as Kenya Moore continues to twirl her way into the abyss of her own fabulousness. After Kenya goes off with the wind, NeNe, Cynthia, and Phaedra go to talk to Porsche to see what’s next after all that crazy. Porsha tells them that she is happy that they got to see the crazy Kenya that she experienced at her charity event. Meanwhile, Kenya is in her room venting to Walter about how she didn’t appreciate being called a tramp and blah, blah, blah…

The next morning, the group has plans to go to the beach, but Kenya wants to meet with the girls first to talk about the previous night. She gives a non apology for how she acted and expects Porsha to apologize. But things look like they are going to start back up again when the women start doing what they do best: talking over each other. However, Peter interrupts saying that the men are ready to go, and everyone decides to squash it as they head to the beach.

But things take a quick turn when Kenya gives Cynthia a book that Vanessa Williams and her mother wrote about being a beauty queen basically trying to call Cynthia out in front of everybody. Later on, Cynthia pulls Kenya to the side, and the subject of disrespect is once again brought up including the casting call at the Bailey Modeling Agency. However, before things escalate, the women decide to agree to disagree about how they both handle people and how they both do business.

RELATIONSHIPS: DO MEN REALLY WANT A CHALLENGE?

I really want to emphasize how much I dislike and disagree with this belief as it pertains to relationships. I hear it all the time: is there some truth to men liking a “challenge”? Yes, but women (and some men) have taken this concept and blown it out of proportion. There is a big misunderstanding of what this really means and when it can work for you or work against you. Women are shooting themselves in the foot on a daily basis and don’t even realize it. People are feeding them this “just play hard to get” strategy and setting many up to never be gotten. As you can clearly see I do not like this challenge concept at all, so let me better explain my position against the idea that “men love a challenge”.

How many of you know a woman, or have been a woman who has used this strategy? You did the whole play hard to get thing and from what you can see, it worked. You were able to get the man’s attention and were successful in reeling him in. Then the minute you want to either let your guard down, or get serious about the relationship, this man decides to fall back and shows resistance to moving forward. Do you want to know why that happens? It’s not because men want a challenge so bad and you easing up turned him off. It’s because he was never that into you as a person in the first place.

You were successful at intriguing him with that challenge, and intrigue can be a passing phase. What was never established was a genuine interest in who you really are as a person. A much better foundation for a good and healthy relationship. Men loving a challenge is a self-fulfilling desire. It is an ego booster and it feeds their competitive nature. It is our way of separating ourselves from the rest in being able to say we were able to overcome this challenge and conquer it. Recognize that this all comes from a selfish place and do you really want to build your relationship based on a selfish principle?

Tiny Tonight: Hit or Miss?

On Monday (Dec. 17) night, not only did we get one last chance to see what was up with the Harris family this season, we also saw the premiere of Tiny Tonight, which is Tiny’s talk show. Tiny Tonight was a 2012 retrospective. Her co-hosts included my favorite Tamar Braxton, rapper Trina, and Claudia Jordan. And of course, it wouldn’t be Tiny if her best friend and stylist Shekinah Jo wasn’t on the show.

Tiny Tonight discussed many topics, including reality television shows like Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Honey Boo Boo, Tamar & Vince, and Jersey Shore. It also discussed big moments in entertainment and politics including the death of Whitney Houston and the re-election of President Barack Obama.

Before I watched it, I read some of the comments about Tiny Tonight on twitter and facebook. A lot of people thought the show was ghetto, etc. Overall, it wasn’t that bad to me. The show had the right elements: comical and engaging hosts topped off with great discussion topics.

T.I. & Tiny: Giving Back

The kids in the Harris household have very demanding Christmas gift lists. And in Monday (Dec. 17) night’s season finale of The Family Hustle, T.I. decides to teach his kids the importance of giving back. Also, T.I. wanted to show them what it takes for him and their money to supply their wants.

But before all of that goes down, Tiny gives her mother a check to pay of her mortgage for Christmas. Tiny’s mom is overjoyed and it definitely was very heartfelt.

So the Harris family takes time out to give back to the community by passing out turkeys. After that, they go on a promo tour with T.I., in which he visits 3 different cities. The kids have fun and are exhausted at the same time. When they get back home, Major and a couple of the others are down for the count.

We’re back in Anguilla as Monday (Dec. 17) night’s episode of Real Housewives of ATL picks back up with Kenya asking Phaedra the famous (disrespectful) question: “If you could give Apollo 2 of your friends for his birthday, who would they be?” Phaedra cuts her off real quick calling her out for being disrespectful. Cynthia sides with Phaedra immediately. However, Kenya tries to brush it off saying she was kidding.

NeNe plans a girls’ night where all the girls can come out to relax. Things seem to be going fine until NeNe asks Porsche and Kenya exactly what happened between them. Porsche tells everyone how she felt about Kenya’s attitude at the charity event and you know what happens next. Kenya goes off! Then, it turns into a shouting match with Kenya calling Porsche a b**** several times (kinda reminds you when Jackie Christie kept calling Draya a ho on BBWLA.

Things get pretty close to blows between the ladies, but Phaedra, NeNe, and Cynthia step in to break them up. After Kenya goes on her rant about how she is 40 and fabulous, she twirls… and twirls…. and twirls back to her room.

Okay… what was up with all of that twirling? Kenya is crazy! Bonafide crazy! I know me and my sister rewinded the ending several times, and we were laughing hard, especially when Phaedra was like, “You better preach, girl.” Phaedra says some slick, side-handed stuff sometimes, but it’s hilarious. Like when she called Peter a “Black Angel.” I was rolling! Love Phaedra!

Am I the only one who missed the cast of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta? As soon as I saw Joseline Hernendez, Stevie J, and MiMi appear on the television screen I just busted out laughing. Yes, the ATL cast is the definition of ratchetness (I don’t like that word by the way), but I love them. I love seeing them on television, and I can’t wait until we are watching their crazy lives unfold in front of us again.

On Sunday (Dec. 16) night, VH1 aired a LHHATL special where they showed some behind the scenes footage of season one. There was also a sit down with all of the cast members about how they felt about the show and the scenes that they saw on their fancy IPads.

We saw a lot of revealing moments including the big fight between Stevie J, Scrappy, Erica, and Joseline. It was revealed that Joseline was the one who threw the first punch when she mushed Erica in the face.
